A plethora of jobs are available in Rochester as it is the second largest economy in the New York State and is close to the New York metropolitan area. Both blue collar and white collar Rochester jobs are to be found. The number of available positions are greatly enhanced by the presence of a number of international businesses, including Fortune 1000 companies Eastman Kodak, Constellation Brands, and Paychex, as well as several national and regional companies. Another addition to the Rochester jobs is Xerox which was founded in Rochester in 1906 as the Haloid company and still retains a significant position there. The University of Rochester contributes to the positions by employing as much as nineteen thousand four hundred and forty one people and is the largest employer there.
